Cris “Cyborg” Justino Injured, Replaced By “The Karate Hottie” In New Invicta 10 Main Event

MMA fans who were looking forward to seeing Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos make her Bantamweight debut will have to wait longer. Invicta FC has become the latest victim of the injury bug, which has now spread into the world of Women's MMA, as Cyborg is off the Invicta 10 event in December. It was revealed today that Cyborg has pulled out of her scheduled Invicta FC 10 bout due to a rupture of her anterior talofibular ligament in her left ankle. Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp noted on Saturday that while Cyborg suffered the aforementioned injury three weeks ago, the promotion waited to find out the severity of her injury before making any official decisions. At this point it's known that Cyborg's condition is bad enough that she can't fight on 12/5 as expected, so in her place will be "The Karate Hottie" Michelle Waterson, who will defend her Invicta Atomweight Championship against Herica Tiburico in the new Invicta 10 main event. Invicta FC 10 takes place on December 5, 2014 in Houston, Texas. Ronda Rousey On Cyborg: “That Girl Should Be Charged With Attempted Negligent Homicide”

During a recent appearance on "The MMA Hour" at MMAFighting.com, Ronda Rousey was asked about the always topical subject -- a super fight with Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino. While Rousey claims to have no problem fighting Cyborg, she did mention that she doesn't deserve the fight. In fact, Rousey feels Cyborg should be charged with "attempted negligent homicide." "If [a fight with Cyborg] happens or not, whatever," Rousey said to Ariel Helwani during the show. "I'll do it, I'll beat her, it's just, I mean, that girl in my eyes should be charged with attempted negligent homicide. Coming into the cage with performance-enhancing drugs is the equivalent of walking in there with a weapon." "Rowdy" Ronda elaborated, insisting that continued use of PEDs by fighters is going to have long-term negative repercussions on the sport of MMA. "The only reason we're even allowed to do MMA is, given potential for how it is right now, we can say it is safe," Rousey said. "But if you keep putting PEDs in people, it's going to become less and less safe, and the day somebody dies in that Octagon, and the other person tests positive for steroids, you're going to have your first murder case in MMA and that is going to be the kind of thing that destroys the sport. It could destroy the sport forever." The UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion says she'll be the person to step up and eliminate Cyborg from the sport, so "no one else will have to deal with her again." "I'm happy to put her out of her misery and put her out of the sport so no one else will ever have to deal with her again because it's something that needs to be done," Rousey said. "But do I think that having a big PPV card is worth having that sort of thing for the sport that I've worked so hard to develop? Then no, I don't think it's worth it. If you put her in front of me, I'll put her out. But do I think she deserves to be there? Reason Why Ronda Rousey vs. Cat Zingano Was Moved From UFC 182 To UFC 184

For those wondering why the Ronda Rousey vs. Cat Zingano title fight was moved from UFC 182 to UFC 184 seemingly out of nowhere, it looks like we finally have our answer. According to a report on this week's edition of "UFC Tonight" on FOX Sports 1, Zingano was the cause for the change in the date of the fight. Zingano's management reportedly told Ariel Helwani that the undefeated, number-one ranked UFC Women's Bantamweight contender has been dealing with back issues, which were bad enough that they felt she wouldn't physically be ready to compete by the January 3rd date for UFC 182. Although the back issue pushed the date of the fight back a little over a month, her team claims that she's feeling better and hoping for a complete recovery by the time UFC 184 rolls around on February 28th. Transgender mixed-martial-artist Fallon Fox is pissed off at UFC commentator Joe Rogan for recent comments he made that she claims are "blatant misogyny and transphobia," and she's letting him know it. In a guest editorial that she posted on BloodyElbow.com, which was accompanied by the above video, Fox ripped into Rogan and demanded an apology. Below is an excerpt from her editorial.
"Since I've come out, Joe Rogan continues to spread incorrect information on transgender athletes. Much of this goes against the consensus of the medical community and the commissions that license me to fight. I see no end to this from him in sight. In one of his more recent podcast he said, "But the big difference is the mechanical advantage of the male frame. You don't find a female with super wide shoulders, narrow waist and the same size hips and the same shape hips as a man and when you have that kind of body you can just generate more force." I still haven't heard what this claim is based on other than his bias and guessing. How does that work exactly? If it were such a thing I would get licensed. He has influence with MMA fans. So, I am forced to focus on Rogan and his arguments now, and will continue to do so for several weeks - or as long as it takes. Like I said, I shouldn't have to do this. But, I feel compelled to do so in order to try to stop this nonsense if I am to attempt to fight in the future for the promotion for which he is a commentator. It's been a while now since I've come out. My mind needed some time to acclimate to all of this which has made my MMA game a lot tighter lately. And fighting back politically makes me feel even better. It's tragic really for Joe Rogan and those people who side with him. All of this 'being corrected' can just be avoided by him apologizing and correcting the misinformation. That would really make my day."

During a recent "A.M.A." (Ask Me Anything) session on The Underground, top-ranked Women's MMA fighter Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino explained why it's more important for female fighters to focus on photo shoots and Twitter than actual training and fighting these days. Below is an excerpt from the A.M.A. chat where "Cyborg" touched on the subject.
What advice would you give to a young woman getting started as a MMA fighter today? "Make a bunch of photo shoots and spend more time on Instagram and Facebook than training." How long until you are in the UFC? "This isn't my choice. In the beginning if you won you moved up rankings and fought the best now it is more about fans, twitter, tv. I know I am the best female MMA fighter, and I want the best stage to show that. God will work his plan, I just have to focus on training and winning." [Gina] Carano vs. [Ronda] Rousey. Was this amusing to you? "When I heard rumors of this fight, it made me feel like the game of MMA is changing. it's political now."

Last night's edition of The Ultimate Fighter 20 featured one of the best fights of the season, as Rose Namajunas defeated Alex Chambers via first-round submission to give Team Melendez their first victory of the season. According to UFC President Dana White, it's only going to get better from here. The response to last night's show has apparently been positive, as White addressed feedback he received on Twitter, thanking fans for the kind words and promising them that the remainder of the season is "awesome." In the latest edition of "UFC Download," UFC President Dana White spoke about Ronda Rousey being a co-headliner for the upcoming UFC 184 pay-per-view, explaining why it has nothing to do with a lack of star power. "It has nothing to with her not being a star. It goes by weight," White said. "If she was the highest weighted champion on the card, she would be the main event, but you have two guys that are middleweights and she weighs 135 pounds - so she's the co-main." He also spoke about UFC's reason for putting on a stacked card at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, the site of the Rousey vs. Cat Zingano UFC Women's Bantamweight Championship fight at UFC 184. "The last L.A. / Staples Center fight we had with Aldo killed it. Ticket sales were awesome and then we had to shut that thing down," White said. "I just wanted to bring a great card back to L.A. Now we have Weidman versus Belfort and Ronda versus Cat." UFC has added a third Octagon girl to their roster ahead of Saturday's UFC Fight Night 56 event in Uberlandia, Brazil. Luciana Andrade joins the current Brazilian Octagon girls Jhenny Andrade and Camila Oliveira this Saturday for the event headlined by Mauricio "Shogun" Rua vs. Ovince St. Preux, and is expected to work future Brazilian events as well. During the latest edition of "Rowdy" Roddy Piper's "Piper's Pit" podcast, the WWE Hall Of Famer told a story about the time Ronda Rousey called him and asked his permission to use the "Rowdy" nickname. While talking to UFC founder Art Davie on the latest edition of his weekly PodcastOne.com show, "The Hot Rod" spoke about his respect and admiration for the face of Women's MMA, revealing the details of a phone call the two once had where she revealed her intentions to use the "Rowdy" name. "She did. She called me and asked permission," said Piper. "She was so sweet. She said, 'I promise I won't let you down. I'll keep the name in the esteem that it's supposed to be.'" Piper continued, "And then she put on a little "Hot Rod" t-shirt and kind of a little kilt, dress kind of thing and took some publicity pictures." Piper went on to call Rousey one of the biggest stars in the sport today and also talked about how they have "Judo" Gene LeBell in common as a mentor. Female MMA Fighter Betina Baino Arrested Twice For Public Nudity

Female MMA fighter Betina Baino has been arrested on two separate occasions over the past week for walking around naked in the streets of Brazil. Baino offered the following explanation for her actions to Brazilian media outlet G1:
I'm not naked, I'm natural. What is not natural is we do not have health care. What is not natural is an athlete to become a prostitute to survive. What is not natural is a prostitute who was to be rich without turning [tricks]. I think it's normal [to walk] without clothes because I'm healthy, I'm beautiful," Baino told G1. “It's a rant. In MMA, I had the opportunity to fight back because I'm ready to be there. I know what will come ahead. Now when I do not have the minimum requirement of having my government. Without security, no food, no house. So I wanted to make a protest calling for President Dilma. I do not know. I ask her to ask for our help to the folks doing the best thing."
After her first arrest, Baino was taken to a local mental health facility to undergo a psychological examination. According to her records, Baino has had a documented history of mental health issues that have been under medical surveillance. Former Top WWE Executives Say They Expect Ronda Rousey To Appear At WrestleMania 31

During the most recent edition of his weekly "Ross Report" podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross said he believes UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey will appear at next year's WrestleMania 31 event. Ross spoke to former WWE executive and legendary pro wrestling manager J.J. Dillon on his most recent show and during the conversation the face of Women's MMA came up. When talking about WWE's big WrestleMania 31 pay-per-view, which takes place on March 29, 2015 from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, Ross and Dillon, both former Senior Vice Presidents of Talent Relations for WWE, thought that Rousey would be a perfect fit for the event. "I can almost bet that Ronda Rousey will be there because she's the hottest thing in MMA, and Ronda Rousey has the Four Horsewomen," said Dillon. "So, I'm thinking, 'Wow!' That would be a natural thing that the Four Horsewomen will be somehow rubbing elbows with the Four Horsemen," Dillon continued. "And then "Rowdy" Roddy Piper would have to be there because that's where "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey picked up the "Rowdy" from. But then again, what do I know?" Ross then chimed in with his opinion of the UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion. "Yeah, she's the hottest sports entertainment personality in the world -- by far in my view," said Ross. "Well, by far might be too much, but she's certainly number one in my book." "She sure is right now," Dillon concluded. Bethe Correia Forced To Turn Down Miesha Tate Fight Due To Injury

The reason Miesha Tate is fighting Sara McMann at UFC 183, as was announced yesterday, is because her original opponent, Bethe Correia, had to turn the fight down due to injury. After Correia and Tate went back-and-forth with trash-talk, UFC officials reportedly offered Correia the fight. Due to an injury, however, Correia was forced to turn the fight down. "They offered me to fight Miesha three times," Correia told MMAFighting.com. "The first date was in December, then January and February, but I couldn’t take it because I’m injured. "I tried to convince my doctor to let me fight, but he said I can’t come back before March. I can fight King Kong in March, but I can’t fight before." Miesha Tate vs. Sara McMann is scheduled to take place at UFC 183 on January 31, 2015 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. UFC Women's Bantamweight contender Leslie Smith had a rough night in Mexico City on Saturday night. The number 13-ranked contender in the UFC Women's 145-pound division suffered a gruesome ear injury during her FOX Sports 1 preliminary bout with Jessica Eye at last night's UFC 180 event. Smith stated the following about her ear after the fight:
"I was pretty mad in the cage. I saw some pictures afterward and I appreciate the doctors looking out for me. I guess. I should've adjusted to protect my ear before the doctors had to stop it. Thank you for all the support, thank you to my sponsors Kleinburg Private Wealth, Venum, Major's Pharmacy, Vitality Bowls, and WODBOX.
