The city of Albuquerque, New Mexico already honored new UFC Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm by naming November "Holly Holm Month," and it's about to get even better for her. The city announced on their website that this coming Sunday, November 6th, the Albuquerque City Council and the Bernalillo County Commission will have "a champion's parade and celebration" in her honor. In a city with no major sports teams, MMA (thanks in large part to the Jackson/Winkeljohn MMA gym) is actually a decent chunk of the economy. On top of that, most of Holm's boxing matches were n the city. With all of that in mind, it's no surprise that they've rallied behind her to this degree.
According to the city website, "parade route and other details are forthcoming." The parade will also serve as a charitable event, as attendees are encouraged to "donate non-perishable items and winter clothing for the benefit of the Albuquerque Rescue Mission and the Albuquerque Christian Children’s Home."
The parade will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. local time.
