Although she was just knocked out in 34 seconds by Ronda Rousey at UFC 190 this past Saturday night in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Bethe Correia is promising her fans she will defeat Rousey and become UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion by the end of 2016.
"I promise I will fight for the belt next year," Correia said to Combate. "In 2016, I want to write a different story. I want, above all things, to be respected. I want a triumphant return. I won't accept ending 2016 without a UFC belt on my waist. Everything I want, I get. That will be my battle."
Correia continued, "If she still has the belt next year, I will meet her again. I will get that belt. I think Ronda [Rousey] will be dethroned and I hope I get to do it. Everybody loses at one point."
While still unofficial, it is expected that Rousey will make the next defense of her UFC Women's 135-pound title in a trilogy bout against her biggest career rival to date, Miesha Tate, in a stadium show co-headlined by Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor in a UFC Featherweight title unification bout at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
