It looks like yet another UFC Champion may need an operation that will keep them on the sidelines until the end of the year at the earliest.
The undefeated UFC Women's Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk, fresh off of her dominant TKO victory over Jessica Penne at UFC Fight Night 69 this past weekend, reportedly suffered a "badly broken right thumb," an injury that very well could require surgery.
Jedrzejczyk's co-manager -- Shu Hirata -- broke the news during her appearance on "The MMA Hour" at MMAFighting.com on Monday.
While it's currently unclear how long Jedrzejczyk will be out of action, she did mention after the fight that following a 3-0 run over the span of seven months, she wants to take some time off, noting that she would like to return to the Octagon in November or December. Whether the thumb injury will extend the amount of time she is forced to sit out remains to be seen.
