The chances of an epic Women's MMA showdown between UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey and Invicta FC Women's Featherweight Champion Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino are finally looking good.
UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta told ESPN last month that the UFC was in negotiations with Cyborg and Justino herself noted during an interview this past Monday that she fully believes the fight with Rousey will come to fruition.
Cyborg still remains under contract with Invicta FC and will defend her 145-pound title against Charmaine Tweet in the main event of Invicta FC 11 on February 27th in Los Angeles, California -- which happens to be the same weekend and location that the Rousey vs. Cat Zingano title fight headlines the UFC 184 pay-per-view event.
Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp recently told MMAFighting.com that Cyborg will likely fight at least one more time for her promotion, but that the chances of a Cyborg-Rousey mega-fight are at an all-time high.
"I can't really say that it will happen this year," said Knapp. "But what I can tell you is the fans should not give up, because this fight is closer than it has ever been -- ever. If it's gonna happen, I think we're gonna see it happen possibly by the end of this year or first quarter of next."
